Roade Review
- A Parish Appraisal
The "Roade Review" was produced by the Roade Appraisal Group, which consisted
of Vivian Blyth, Pauline Mavir, David Mackintosh, Ian
Calder, Cecil Bottomley, Mike Northall, Sue Smith, Eve
Perry and Rick Thake. The publication was launched in the Autumn of 1995.
Thanks to their
time, patience and diligence, the village of Roade has
this superb one hundred page record of fascinating facts,
interesting anecdotes, historical memorabilia and beautiful
old and new photographs. They all feature our lovely village which was first mentioned in the Doomsday Book in 1086.
Copies of the wonderful
book are still available from Roade History Society - it's well worth obtaining a copy at £5.00. There are truthfully
not many copies left so don't delay! |

Roade Through The Camera
Written and Compiled by Roade Local History Society and launched in September 2009.
"The saying 'one picture is worth a thousand words' is a cliche because it is true. The book is intended to give a visual flavour of Roade, to show some if its buildings, inhabitants and activities at different times and some of the many changes undergone."
The book is available from Roade History Society |
