Wesleyan Methodism came to Roade around 1837 at the time the railway track was being laid through the village. Some of the construction workers were Methodists from the Bletchley area. They at first worshipped in the Baptist chapel but in due course came to look for a meeting place of their own. The Railway contractor built a room for this group of Methodists at the end of Yew Tree Terrace. This became the first real home of Methodism in the village. It still stands today as 35 High Street. At the same sort of time, an enthusiastic Methodist, Mr William Gardiner – from Whittlebury began employment with Sir William Wake at Courtenhall.

The group were soon to move to a Barn Close and subsequently to the Old Malting House on the Ashton Road. It was on this site, now demolished that the Church grew and a Sunday school was formed. Then 35 years after first arriving in the village Methodism found its way to its present site on the Hartwell Road where a newly constructed chapel was opened on the 16th September 1875.

Growth of Methodist continued and a second new chapel was built, leaving the older building as a hall. It is this building opened on 20th May 1908 that has remained in use ever since.

In 1994 the whole complex was renovated and a new kitchen, toilets, disabled facilities built. On the outside the building appears very much the same as when built, but inside has been transformed into a modern suite of premises to serve the village well into the 21st century.
