Our Mission Statement

"Its all about delivering facilities to Young People aged 11 - 19"

As you may have read & seen in the Chronicle & Echo, on Friday 4th April Roade Youth Group volunteers, by kind permission of the Head Mr Ross Parkinson, met with the young people of our parish who attend Roade School & Sports College. At this meeting, which was also attended by District & Parish Councillors, the youth of the village were presented with a cheque for £16,000. This sum of money comes in the form of grants from South Northants Council, a provision within the 2008/09-parish precept and a generous donation from community funds via County Councillor Mr Bernard Ingram. These funds will be used to engage a youth worker/fund raiser and to provide suitable premises and equipment for the Youth Facility.

Also at this meeting we asked for feedback from our young people, because it’s fundamentally all about WHAT THEY WANT, and we were encouraged by their enthusiasm and with the responses to our mini questionnaire.  However, we are aware that our message may not have reached everyone to whom it is targeted. For those of you reading this who missed the presentation, or who attend other schools/colleges in the area, please let us know your thoughts via the village website or by filling in a mini questionnaire available at the Post Office, Library or Ex-Servicemen’s Club, from where they will be collected later.

What and where will this ‘Youth Facility’ be?

We are considering various options for the location of this facility and hopefully by the time you read this we will have a good idea what is available. Also our youth worker will have spoken with as many of our young people as possible, as their views are vitally important in ensuring that we end up with a viable and sustainable amenity.

Parents/Carers, the Parish Plan Questionnaire results indicated that many of you would be interested to volunteer a couple of hours or more supporting activities for our young people. Now is the time to make yourself known. This venture must not fail through a lack of care or concern for the future development of our young people and our community as a whole.
